Doodles: Kirby

Posted by Faye on May 31, 2009

Kirbyyyyyyy Hello! I’ve been making a few doodles lately while waiting for my CP IX. I whipped up this UFO Kirby. I think it came out rather well. I plan to ink him later on. I also have other random drawings of Kirby and his other ‘powers’. They’re too messy though, so I won’t post ’em. Why draw Kirby a lot, you ask? Well, I’ve been playing Kirby: Nightmare on Dreamland on the GBA and I’ve been having fun with it. It’s so fun to play and the sprites are pretty cool. I also find the characters somewhat interesting XD .

The GBA is getting pret-ty old though…. so I might download the game for my NDS. I heard there’s a Kirby game for your DS now, too.

Dooood!Oh, yeah! And I’ve been practicing on drawing male characters, too, on a realistic sorta way. I really enjoy reading tutorials. My secret weapon? References! Search some on the internet; I recommend Googling them 😉

I also found some on DeviantArt. Try putting the keyword tutorial on the search bar. I found plenty of helpful tutorials. Check out what I’ve come up with! I’m really enjoying this 😛

I found this awesome layout generator for comic writers out there who wants their wordpress site turned into an online comic! It’s called Comicpress.

Comicpress is, as the name suggests, a website which helps you create an online comic site in a matter of minutes. It’s really helpful, they even have layouts already planned for your webcomic. The demo allowes you to have a live preview of the layout you want. And from what I saw, it will be very helpful in publishing an online comic & blog. Make sure you’ve wordpress installed in your computer. If not, it can be downloaded here. Then, download comicpress. It’s up to you then, to read how to publish your wordpress site into a webcomic. Don”t forget to read the “read me” file!

Blambot: Comic Font

Posted by Faye on May 24, 2009

I was surfing the net just now and I found a good website which offers good fontfor comic publishers…. Of course, that doesn’t mean WE can’t use ’em 🙂 ! Blambot is a website which offers font, some free, some needing payment. Their font are really good. As long as you’re a good Graphics Designer, then I’m sure you can give them a good use. But they’ll look  best when used in an actual comic!

The only downside is, if you don’t have a paypal account, I don’t think it’s a good idea to pay for the font there. So make sure you have paypal account if you ever wanna buy the pro fonts. But in case you DON’T have a paypal account, you can download their free font. It’s like the name says; It’s totally FREE.

So, if you’re looking for font to use for your comics, or you just want some cool-looking font for your graphics, go on over to Blambot!

Also, this just in, I’ve just confirmed that by next week, I’ll have Corel Painter installed in my computer. I can’t wait!

Hello! Sorry for lack of updates, I’ve been very busy lately(not to mention lazy). And I’ve been having meetings with some of my buds. So anyway, I found this awesome blog, of course about art, and I suggest that you visit it for references & inspiration! They’re a great team of artists. Their artwork are amazing, I’m sure you’ll get a few pointers from them 😉 !

Click here to go there NOW!

I check out their blog almost everyday, and they update a lot. I’m one of their biggest fans right now… Oh, and I’ve got plenty of ideas for my next project! I’m creating a new way of sketching, you know, a better one. Something that I know will be wonderful to look at when inked. When I get the chance to scan my sketches, I’ll be sure to post them here for your own references! Right now I’m still studying, so keep updated!
